MOU ceremony with MINESTO
The MOU ceremony was held at 4:00pm Oct. 17, 2019.
Taiwan is surrounded by rich ocean energy including oceanic currents. The ultimate long term goal of this collaboration is to find a path towards electricity production based on these currents. COES and Minesto will join forces in feasibility analysis of the ocean current potential for Deep Green and demonstrate the technology at the existing COES test site in Keelung. The collaboration will step-wise increase in scale and scope, starting with installation of a ¼-scale power plant.

Sympomittee meeting of AICFM 15 and IAHR-Asia 2019
Prof. Jiahn-Horng Chen was invited by President Young-Ho Lee of Korean Fluid Machinery Society to attend International Symposium on Hydro and Marine Renewable Energy held at Busan, Korean on February 21. He delivered an invited speech on the development of a new type of wave energy converter for regions with medium wave energy density. His talk focused on the issue of local wave amplification in an open caisson.

The Sympomittee meeting of 15th Asian International Conference on Fluid Machinery (AICFM 15) and 2nd IAHR-Asia Symposium on Hydraulic Machinery and Systems (IAHR-Asia 2019), both of which will be held in September 2019. Prof. Chen was assigned to organize special sessions on marine renewable energy. Those who are interested in presenting their research in the special sessions are welcome to contact Prof. Chen.
